Safe Use of Lifting Equipment

Course Summary

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) replace most existing laws relating to the use of lifting equipment. LOLER applies to any item of lifting equipment, but duty holders now have to consider its requirements in relation to the risk involved and measures needed to eliminate or control the risk. This regulation has an important link to The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER 98), which applies to all work equipment, including lifting equipment. To use lifting equipment safely, duty holders will have to comply with both LOLER and PUWER 98. Therefore this programme has been developed to provide duty holders with suitable knowledge and skills to comply with current Health and Safety requirements.
